Galactic Party - Orly Galaxy Girl, Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters

Here's a layering combo I wore a few months ago combining a duochrome with a glitter topper.

This is Orly Galaxy Girl from the Cosmic FX collection, topped with a layer of Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters.

All the polishes from the Cosmic FX collection are absolutely gorgeous! Although some may be a bit sheer, they build up really well to opacity in thin even coats.

Galaxy Girl has a plummy red-brown base with very strong teal shimmer which shifts to a bright pink at an angle. The two photos above compare the shimmer in diffuse and direct lighting.

Some people have commented that it looks a bit bruise-like! I do like how the blue shimmer brightens up an otherwise dark vampy shade. I also particularly like how it's big particle shimmer (glass-fleck style) as it adds to the bling!

Of course, being a bling-addict, I popped on a layer of Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters which went unexpectedly well with Galaxy Girl! I think this level of glitter density and size variance is just perfect for a topper. =)

Also, compared to NYX Carnival and Milani Gems, WnW Party of Five Glitters is a combination of cooler colours compared to the warmer shades present in Carnival (lots of gold) and Gems (includes gold and orange). I really should get around to swatch comparisons of all the party glitter combinations I have.... =p

Grim Greening Ghosts - Halloween Challenge #3: Ghosts

I swear this seemed like a better idea in my head! Anyway, here's my attempt for Halloween Challenge #3... GHOSTS!!

I'll try not to talk too much... =p I didn't want to use a plain black base so I decided to use Milani Enchantment from the Black Magic Halloween collection a few years back...

Milani Enchantment is a black jelly with lots of superfine blurple microglitter. It would probably be opaque in 2-3 coats, but in the interest of easy removal, I layered one coat of it over a plain black creme (LA Girl Blackout, as usual).

Unfortunately the glitter is so fine that it looks pretty much like a plain black... it would have been sparklier in the sun but it was super rainy when I took these pics so no shiny to see here!

I then used Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Glow in Dark polish (in Glow...) and stamped a couple of images on from my Bundle Monster plates: Bats on pinky (BM13), castle on ring (BM224), ghosts on middle and index (BM223).

However, because the stamping layer was so thin, I had trouble with the images not glowing for very long after I turned the lights out, oh no! So I had to colour in the pattern a little with a little brush... hence the blobbiness, oh dear...

And then my nails, complete with blobby ghost close-up!! This was pretty fun despite the troubles... especially trying to force my camera to focus in the dark... I think glow-in-the-dark polish can be really fun! Maybe I'll do a full glow-in-the-dark mani the next time I go watch a movie, hehehehe....

Gee, that post title is a mouthful! It's time for another embarrassing haul post! Although tbh, most of these came from Kaz's blogsale... =p

However, before we get into that, I was super surprised to learn that I had won one of the prizes in Dragon Lady Nails' 200-500 Follower Giveaway! Mine was the second entry drawn and I had a pick of the remaining four prize sets and this was the one I picked:

Milani Gems is another of those Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday-inspired ones. Teal is medium-sized blue/green/silver holo hexagon glitter with small blue glitter in a clear base. Silver is... well, silver! Hexagonal glitter in a clear base as well. Click the image to see the different glitter combinations better.

Revlon Color Illusion Lilac Beam was a lucky find after rummaging through a pile at Paddys Markets, wooo! Jme and I each bought a bottle of Revlon Popular during Priceline's recent BOGOF Revlon sale.

A close-up to show the holo in Missha HKH01, and the duochrome in Missha HGR01 and Revlon Lilac Beam! Also, now that I own three different party multi-coloured glitter polishes, I can do a comparison of them! Here's a quick and dirty pic to show you the general difference between the three.

Milani Gems has a lot more orange, NYX Girls Carnival has more gold and neither are present in WnW Party of Five Glitters so you get a much cooler tone with WnW, warm with NYX and in-between for Milani.

I'll write up a more comprehensive breakdown one day but for now, I'm off to stare lovingly at my stash...ALTHOUGH... I will be doing a blogsale sometime, I just need to find some time to weed through my stash (because it's almost at 400 atm, shhhh don't tell the boyfriend...) =p

Burning Bright - Eclipse, WnW, Tropez, Kleancolor Nail to Toe, Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen

I am back from Perth! Yay! I was there for a week to use some exceedingly fancy equipment at UWA. It is a lovely city with equally lovely weather but I'm glad to be back in Sydney, dreary as she is... I will post again soon with all the updates from last week (exciting stuff!!) but first, here's something I rushed out only today as the deadline is in under 24hrs, gosh!

Jme was kind enough to take over the Monday morning post from me so you may have seen her entry to Rebecca Likes Nails' nail art competition! This is a pretty fun one with a range of themes to pick from. I chose gradients and animal print! ROWR!

I've done freehand leopard print nails before here, but not tiger print, so despite my current nubbin nails, I thought I'd go with that this time! What do you think? =) Read on for a b-b-b-b-b-breakdown....!!

I started with a base of Eclipse 414, an amazing vermillion creme. This is only one coat! Perfect coverage, perfectly smooth.

Eclipse is a Korean brand you can purchase at Asian cutesy stores like Morning Glory (maybe ArtBox, I haven't checked). Their shimmers and glitters are not bad, but the cremes are where they shine!

I then sponged 2/3s of the nail with a golden yolk creme (Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up) and 1/3 to the tip with Tropez White Hot, a white creme. I used the same sponge corner for both, to tint the white slightly yellow from the remaining Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up. Note the different pattern for the thumb.

With my trusty Kleancolor Nail to Toe nail art polishes, I striped on some green (Garden of KC), gold (Gold Dipped) and white (Wedding Gown White). Again, the thumb was striped a bit differently.

Wave your magic wand around (by which I mean Kleancolor Tuxedo Black and Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black), and voila! There's a kitty stalking through the grass!

An extra tip for using the Sally Hansen nail art pens. Wait wait wait till your base layers are dry! I was in such a rush because I didn't have much time that it was even slower going trying not to dent the polish. Oh well, I'm glad I managed to squeeze this one in! =)

And the final manicure again! I don't have more pics because this mani only really works arranged this way and all my photos were pretty repetitive.

My inspiration for this was actually a stone I bought for my sister from a crystal store at Fremantle Markets - it's called a zebra stone and is an orange-to-white stone with rust red stripes running through it! I thought it looked quite tiger-like rather than a zebra!

Look out  for another post from me soon! PHEW! I've been so stressed the last three weeks or so that it'll be great to wind down for a bit...
