Cursed Claws - OPI Jinx, Femme Fatale Cosmetics Tricky Treats

Halloween always just kinda creeps up on me (ha!) and I forget about doing any sort of seasonal manicure. So I smashed this one out on a whim and here we go! Quick easy Halloween 2016!

[Toil and trouble..]
Orange is always a winner. I considered ye ole orange and black combination but instead decided to pull out a glitter I've been saving for the occasion..

[Bottle to nail: OPI Jinx (1 coat); Glitter: Femme Fatale Tricky Treat (1 coat)]
A base of OPI Jinx... I have a confession to make! I just slapped a layer of Jinx on over my existing mani which was purple-ish so it toned down the brilliant orange a little. Regardless, Jinx is a real beaut - bright orange and gold glitter with a liquid sand (ie. textured) finish.

[Bottle to nail: Femme Fatale Tricky Treat (1 coat); Base: OPI Jinx (1 coat)]
Topped it off with a layer of Femme Fatale Cosmetics Tricky Treat from waaay back when! Isn't it super perfect! A mix of different shapes and sizes of orange and purple glitter with a smattering of holo as well.

[Base: OPI Jinx (1 coat); Glitter: Femme Fatale Tricky Treat (1 coat)]
Finish up with generous layers of topcoat so everything is super smooth and shiny, and you're all set!

Pretty happy with my last minute, lazy Halloween mani! =) Happy Haunting!!

The Three Sides - Essie DJ Play That Song, Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, Born Pretty BPL-027

These photos have been sitting in my computer for awhile and I have just rediscovered them!

[Base: Essie DJ Play That Song
Stamping: Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, Born Pretty BPL-027]
The base is Essie's DJ Play That Song which is a dark pink creme nail polish. I stamped on top of that with Hit the Bottle's Spun Gold, using a pattern from Born Pretty's BPL-027 plate.

[With Stamping Plate Born Pretty BPL-027]
The pattern used is the 4th from the left on the first row. I think I have liked almost every single pattern from this BPL-027 stamping plate, which is a rare treat.

[Base: Essie DJ Play That Song
Stamping: Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, Born Pretty BPL-027]
I have to say, I love this colour combination. And Hit the Bottle's stamping polishes are so nice for stamping, because they always produce such sharp, crisp lines and awesome opacity. They're real easy to use for stamping.

You can see from the straight on photo that I really struggled with lining up the stamper so that I stamped on this pattern straight. All the triangles are at a diagonal angle, instead of being stamped on straight unfortunately. But otherwise, I really do love the pattern and the colours!

Evening Glam - Lacquistry Amazeballz Holo!, Born Pretty BP-L028, Hit the Bottle As Black As Night

A very lovely couple I know tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony last weekend. Here's the mani I wore to the special day!

[Bottle to nail: Lacquistry Amazeballz Holo! (2 coats);
Stamping: Born Pretty BP-L028, Hit the Bottle As Black As Night]
I kinda went with a black and gold theme when accessorising so this combination wasn't too hard to work with! I used Lacquistry Amazeballz Holo! which I'm previously reviewed here. Still such a fantastic eye-catching polish - I used two coats for the base here.

[Base: Lacquistry Amazeballz Holo! (2 coats);
Stamping: Born Pretty BP-L028, Hit the Bottle As Black As Night]
I then toned it down a bit with some black stamping in a lace and chevron pattern. The plate is Born Pretty BP-L028 and the stamping polish is Hit the Bottle As Black As Night.

I do think it would've looked much better if the chevron design was smaller/denser so you can actually see it on the nail. Otherwise, I quite like the result!

Circling the Issue - Maybelline Color Show Denims Denim Dash, Hit the Bottle Chromeo, Born Pretty BP-L004

It's definitely not a surprise that I'm stamping over any and all base polished if I can manage it!

[Circles upon circles]
Here's my attempt this week, a nice bright contrasting metallic against the creme base.

[Bottle to nail: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (2 coats, with topcoat)]
My base from last week's post is Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash, a medium blue creme with lots of fine silver sparkles. This polish dries semi-matte and also looks amazing glossy.

[Bottle to nail: Hit the Bottle Chromeo (stamping); Base: Maybelline Denim Dash (2 coats)]
To go with the silver specks in the base polish, I decided to stamp in silver as well. This is Hit the Bottle Chromeo, an absolutely flawless silver stamping polish.

[Stamping plate: Born Pretty BP-L004]
The design I chose was this overlapping circles pattern from Born Pretty plate BP-L004. Yes! I'm still working on testing out all the designs from this plate!

[Base: Maybelline Denim Dash (2 coats);
Stamping: Hit the Bottle Chromeo, Born Pretty BP-L004]
I'm pretty happy with the color combination, but I think I was rushing the stamping a little and it's not as perfect as I'd like.

[Base: Maybelline Denim Dash (2 coats);
Stamping: Hit the Bottle Chromeo, Born Pretty BP-L004]
Still looked great as long as you're not too picky about all the little details!

Rainbow Swirl - Water Marbling Decal

Water marbling! Fake water marbling, haha...

[Water Marble Decals]
These are water marbling decals that EV gave me for my birthday. I'm not sure where they're from exactly, but I'm guessing they're available from many online stores so keep a look out. They're rather pretty and eye-catching, hey?

I used a white base on my nails before applying the water decal over it. What you see on my ring finger is the water decal placed wrong side up. Water decals kind of have two sides. After you soak the piece of paper with the pattern on it in water, you slide off the pattern from paper and place it on your nail. The wrong side is usually paler and in this case, slightly pixelated. I thought it was interesting to turn it over for the accent nail, giving it a faded look.

All in all, it looks more like streaks of dye in water rather than the popular water marbling effect, but it's also still very pretty and so much easier and faster to apply, haha. I like it!

Two Faced - Maybelline Color Show Denims Denim Dash

I've got a lovely polish today to show off! This one is from the Maybelline Color Show Denims collection and it's called Denim Dash.

[Bottle to nail: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (2 coats, without topcoat)]
[Bottle to nail: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (2 coats, with topcoat)]
The interesting thing about this is that it dries semi-matte, almost a leather look. It's a pretty cool finish, but it also pops when you add a glossy topcoat! I think both looks are great so I've taken photos before and after topcoat.

[2 coats: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (without topcoat)]
[2 coats: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (with topcoat)]
Denim Dash is a medium blue creme with lots of fine silver flecks - which is what gives it that denim-inspired look. As you can see, it brightens up quite a bit with a glossy topcoat.

[2 coats: Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash (without topcoat)]

Formula was great, nice and pigmented with a decent dry time. I think I could have gotten away with one careful coat for the shorter nails but it's probably easiest to do two coats for this one.

I also previously reviewed Styled Out from the same collection, which is a darker, dustier shade. Overall both are excellent shades and I'm glad to have them in my stash!

Brick by Brick - Revlon Mad About Mango, Australis Settle Petal, Born Pretty BP-13

I've got some wall construction going on here...

[Base: Revlon Mad About Mango
Stamping: Australis Settle Petal, Born Pretty BP-13]
I don't know why but I keep seeing red bricks laid out to make a wall when I look at this mani. It's probably the pattern and the colours used.

[Left: Australis Settle Petal
Right: Revlon Mad About Mango
]
The base chosen is Revlon's Mad About Mango, which is a scented nail polish that smells nice but is rather incorrectly named. It's nowhere near mango-coloured. It's closer to a coral shade, really. I then stamped with Australis' Settle Petal, which is the palest of pink shades. It's not officially a stamping polish, but something about its consistency makes it a great, somewhat translucent, stamping polish. You can see from the first photo that the stamped lines are a little tiny bit non-opaque.

[Born Pretty BP-13 stamping plate]
Then we have the stamping plate from Born Pretty, which is BP-13. The stamping pattern I used is the only one that got its own spotlight. :P  The stamping plate was great. Easy to stamp with good sized patterns on the plates.

[Base: Revlon Mad About Mango
Stamping: Australis Settle Petal, Born Pretty BP-13]
Overall, I was really happy with this effect. And the amazing part? It's actually a work appropriate mani. :D

Dainty Scales - OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?, Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, Born Pretty BP-L004

So I did a quick stamp over last week's polish and here it is!

[Daisy chains]
Yes, my go-to stamping shade is always gold.... Although I did attempt a rose stamp in red but it didn't pop against the purple like I'd hoped, so I switched to gold instead.

[Bottle to nail: OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? (2 coats)]
Quick recap of my base from last week - OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? a red-leaning purple creme with subtl copper shimmer.

[Bottle to nail: Hit the Bottle Spun Gold (stamping)]
I didn't end up taking a photo of the stamping colour I used, but I've previously used it in another post so I reused the photo from that. This is Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, a pale gold stamping polish.

[Base: OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI? (2 coats);
Stamping: Hit the Bottle Spun Gold, Born Pretty BP-L004]
The design I used was from Born Pretty stamping plate BP-L004. I am determined to try all the patterns from that plate! So far I've used 6 out of the 21... definitely still a ways to go!

As for this pattern... I think the placement could've been better. But the design itself was not particularly centred on the plate and I couldn't be bothered fluffing around with placement when I was stamping. I do think that it would look really nice with a rhinestone placed at each central dot of the design though! A thought for next time...
