Flashback Fun - Essie Da Bush, Zoya Yara, Zoya Logan, Sinful Colors Rise & Shine, NYX Girls Gilded Glitter

Okay, this here is a fairly old set of photos... over 3 years old, oh dear... So I'm going to try my best to remember what polishes I used for this set of skittles!

[Gold splash]
Okay, ignoring the fact that all of them have a generous coat of gold flake topper over them... From pinky to index, I'm pretty sure it was Essie Da Bush, Zoya Yara (on both ring and middle) and Zoya Logan.

[Pinky to thumb: Essie Da Bush, Zoya Yara x 2, Zoya Logan, Sinful Colors Rise and Shine;
Flakie: NYX Girls Gilded Glitter]
Hmmm... I thiiink the thumb may be Sinful Colors Rise and Shine, which really doesn't match the rest! What was I thinking! =p Probably that I had a whole lot of greens on my desk at the time and that I wanted to use them allllllll~

[Pinky to index: Essie Da Bush, Zoya Yara x 2, Zoya Logan;
Flakie: NYX Girls Gilded Glitter]
The gold flakies are from NYX Girls Gilded Glitter. Isn't it lovely! I'm kinda inspired to dig it out again and slap it over a nice rich blue... possibly with a matte topcoat over!

Lucky Dip - Aphrodite Lacquer, Coco Allure, LA Girl, Nabi

Oh dear, this edition of glitter skittles is going to test my memory... let's see what we've got!

On either side, we have two sheer coats of Aphrodite Lacquer Don't Copy Me. I previously posted about this, so check out the post to see what it looks like as a full mani!
In the middle is a happy glitter mix of two Coco Allure polishes - Bootiful and Cleopinktra. Bootiful is a mix of black, orange and purple glitter in two sizes each of hexes and squares. I showed a skittle of Cleopinktra last week, a mix of gold and magenta hex and square glitter in different sizes.

Aaaand here's a close up of Cleopinktra over a black creme, then topped of with LA Girl Flamboyant, a mix of small and large orange hexes.

[Left] Hmmmm.... evidently a duochrome over black, topped off with...? I have no idea!!
[Right] Not sure what the base is, possibly the same duochrome over black, topped off with LA Girl Incognito and Nabi Party Mania Glitter. Incognito is a mix of small blue hexes with scattered large silver hexes. Party Mania Glitter is a deep blue jelly base with blue, gold, silver, yellow, magenta and green hex glitter. I previously did a skittle with it, but it looks so different depending on which colours you manage to pick up on the brush!

Phew! This should be the last skittle post for now, back to regular full manis next week!

Snow and Shine - Femme Fatale, Coco Allure, Candeo Colors

I have my usual computer back (yay!) but I prepared a couple of glitter skittle posts so I thought I'll just get through them before going back to posting full manis.

[Left] Femme Fatale Sinister Calling, a beautiful glitter mix in predominantly purple and blue hues. Wonderfully complex and the bar glitter doesn't stick up too much. The base is a purple jelly so you can reach full opacity in 2-3 coats.
[Right] This is Coco Allure Cleopinktra, over a base of Coco Allure Like, Totally Pink. The base is a bright pink jelly with a strong purple/fuchsia sheen which you can see quite clearly in the photo. The glitter topcoat is a clear base packed full of purple, pink/magenta and gold glitter in various shapes and sizes. They go perfectly together!

From left to right:
[1] Femme Fatale A Tisket, A Tasket - beautiful combination of mint, green and aqua with some pink highlights, all in a pale green jelly/creme base.
[2] Femme Fatale Shimmering Snowcap - White and gold-leaning iridescent glitter, a delicate combination!
[3, 4] Candeo Colors Dolce - A sheer nude/pink jelly base with scattered glitter in shades of white, purple and pink. This is a really sweet polish and I think the more... sedate amount of glitter really works well here!

I've been really lazy about painting my nails recently, especially since it's the middle of winter and my fingers feel like they're freezing off while I'm waiting for the polish to dry! Oh, the trials and tribulations of a polish enthusiast...

For the Hoard! - Femme Fatale Cosmetics, Sinful Colors, Color Combos, China Glaze

Continuing on from last week, here are more random glitters that I've played around with in the past!

This is a close-up of two beautiful glitter polishes from last week's skittles. On the left is Incendius, and on the right is Eventide, both from Femme Fatale Cosmetics. Aren't they so complex and gorgeous!

Here's Incendius again on the right this time, over a blue base rather than black. On the left is a vintage goodie: Sinful Colors U Funny, brilliantly iridescent bar and tiny hex glitter in a brown-orange jelly base. Not sure if the base was originally this colour... but the duochrome in the bar glitter is insane! Takes a bit of work because it's gone a bit gluggy, but this is definitely one to hang on to!

From left to right:
[1] Color Combos CTW505. This is another duochrome glitter featuring a bar and hex combo, this time in blue-green shift over a black base.
[2] Honestly, I have no idea! Looks like a purple-green duochrome over black... any guesses??
[3] China Glaze Glitter All The Way - party mix central! Green, gold, purple and red glitter!

Geeeez, pulling out all these old photos have got me in the mood for some glitter polish!

Jazzed Up - LA Girl, Nail Pattern Boldness, Amy's Nail Boutique, Femme Fatale Cosmetics

My main computer is in the shop at the moment, so I'm a bit short on photos... I do have them all backed up but the files are a bit of a mess so I'm going to go with some cheap cheerful skittles for today!

Here are some layering experiments I've done... I'll try my best to remember what polishes I used!

From left to right (all over a plain black creme):
[1] LA Girl Celebrate, a mix of large and small hexes in blue, red and white.
[2] LA Girl Incognito, a mix of finer blue hex glitter with scattered large silver hexes.
[3] LA Girl Animate (red small and large hexes) over Nail Pattern Boldness Flipping Out Hard (matte blue and yellow glitter). What was I thinking??
[4] Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly, silver and pale blue square glitter and smaller red and purple glitter in a deep blue jelly base.

From left to right (again over a plain black creme):
[1] Amy's Nail Boutique Roxy (purple and pink matte glitter) and Cotton Candy (blue and pink matte glitter).
[2] Femme Fatale Incendius, complex mix of orange, gold and deep blue glitter.
[3] Femme Fatale Eventide, complex mix of gold, pink and green glitter.
[4] Noooo idea?? Maybe Amy's Nail Boutique Cotton Candy again???

I've got a whole bunch of glitter skittles from layering experiments that I haven't posted before. So maybe I'll do this over the next few weeks or whenever my laptop decides to return from the tech gods... we'll see! In the meantime, enjoy the sparkles!

Sunshine Sparkle - Color Club Beyond, Eternal Beauty, Over the Moon, Jade Fascinio Violeta

A short little post for today... Here's a quick look at three of the polishes from the Color Club 2013 Halo Hues collection! With a bonus mini comparison with Jade Fascinio Violeta!

[Holo skittles: Color Club Halo Hues (pinky, ring, index), Jade Fascinio Violeta (middle)]

Pinky: Color Club Beyond - a black (yes! not gray!) linear holo
Index: Color Club Over the Moon - a medium blue linear holo, dustier than this photo shows.

Ring: Color Club Eternal Beauty - a rich purple linear holo
Middle: Jade Fascinio Violeta - similar in shade to Eternal Beauty, but less opaque and needs more coats to build-up. Possibly more holographic, but this is less obvious in real life.

[Holo skittles: Color Club Halo Hues (pinky, ring, index), Jade Fascinio Violeta (middle)]
The quality of these polishes is similar to the previous Halo Hue 2012 shades I've shown here before so check out Cloud Nine and Angel Kiss!

I won't say tooo much here because Jme and I will have full manicures up with comparisons to other holo polishes at some point. But as you can see, they are gorgeous holos and while not quite as richly coloured as these photos show, they still have a fair bit of pigment to them!

Greeny Gradient - BB Couture Studio 54, LA Girl Purge, ORLY Here Comes Trouble, Mode Vicious Venom, Nubar Meadow Sparkle

Hello hello, today I have five lovely greens to show you today! I combined them together a while ago to make a gradient/ombre skittle manicure~ =)

[Greeny Glitter Gradient Galore]
I've been obsessed with finding the perfect green for a long time (I may just have found it, but that's a post for another day!). So one day when I saw how many bottle I had of just green glitter, I decided to pick a couple to make a gradient...

[The Lineup]
Here's my pick... from left to right: BB Couture Studio 54 for my base colour, LA Girl Glitter Addict in Purge, ORLY Here Comes Trouble, Mode Vicious Venom and Nubar Meadow Sparkle.

[Bottle to nail: BB Couture Studio 54 (2 coats)]
Here's my base colour - BB Couture Studio 54. This is a gorgeous green shimmer in a slightly blued base - a bit of a muted pine green. Not super bright. Formula was good and this was two coats iirc.

[Gradient Skittles (L-R): Nubar Meadow Sparkle, Mode Vicious Venom,
ORLY Here Comes Trouble, LA Girl Purge]

I then popped on varying amounts of glitter polishes on each nail.
Pinky: Nubar Meadow Sparkle. This is a fairly fine pale green. Very neutral shade.
Ring: Mode Vicious Venom. This is a gorgeous green glitter, leaning a bit warmer than my photo suggests. Great coverage.
Middle: ORLY Here Comes Trouble. This one is very similar to Mode Vicious Venom but there are also larger green hexes in the mix so the effect is a whole lot bling-ier. Great colour and coverage.
Index: LA Girl Purge. A mix of large and small kelly green hexes. Love this one too. It's more like a topper so I had to use 2-3 coats to achieve full coverage.

[L-R: LA Girl Purge over LA Girl Blackout, LA Girl Purge over BB Couture Studio 54,
ORLY Here Comes Trouble over BB Couture Studio 54]
I didn't have a darker green glitter so for my thumb, I used a black base coat instead so it would show through a layer of LA Girl Purge (left), giving it a darker shade than the index. =)

[Pinky to index: Nubar Meadow Sparkle, Mode Vicious Venom,
ORLY Here Comes Trouble, LA Girl Purge]
... and here are both hands together! LOL... I took this photo by propping my camera up on the back of my chair and pressing the shutter button.... WITH MY CHIN. =D

Glitterazzle-dazzle - Milani, Nabi, Canmake, Kleancolor, Picture Polish, Nailventurous

So I often play around with layering glitters so I end up with lots of photos of glitter layering skittles. I tell myself it's to remind me what they look like for the next time I'm looking to layer on some glitz... Although... whether I can correctly remember the combinations might be another matter entirely...

Here's a selection of skittles I've done!

From left to right:
[1] Milani Teal from the One Coat Glitter collection, possibly over Essence Blue Addicted. Excellent depth but formula can be a bit thick.
[2] Picture Polish Mask-a-rade over a black creme (LA Girl Blackout). Mask-a-rade is a combo of three different multichrome glitters. You can sort of see the colour shift in the photo.
[3] Nail-Venturous Floam... no idea over what... O_o;; Floam is a combination of blue and yellow matte glitter.

From left to right:

[1] Nabi Party Mania Glitter over a plain black creme (LA Girl Blackout). Party Mania is a black jelly base with a combo of 3 different-sized hex glitters in blue, gold, silver, yellow and magenta. I somehow didn't get any magenta on this skittle. There's also a sprinkling of large green hexes which I also did not pick up. An interesting one, for sure! Not super dense on the glitter so strictly a layering glitter.

[2] Oh deaar... This is some blue base possibly also Essence Blue Addicted... then topped with Canmake 30, a blue jelly with loads of iridescent glitter (the stuff flashing blue and gold). THEN, topped with a layer of Nabi Lilac Jumbo Glitter... which is a crazy mishmash of three sizes of gold-green duochrome glitter and purple holographic bar glitter.

[3] This is a base of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlet (previously posted here) and then topped with Nabi Lilac Jumbo Glitter like the middle skittle.

Geeeee, that took longer than I expected to type out... My glitter polishes are taking over the collection, oh no! Oh, who am I kidding...MORE LIKE OH, YEAHHHHH~ ;D
