Shopping in Sydney - Essence, OPI, Jordana, Sally Hansen, Revlon

Okie dokes, here are some photos I took on my mobile recently, so apologies for the quality. I've left them a bit larger so if you click on them you can see everything a bit clearer! Let's get on to the latest Shopping in Sydney post!

An almost complete look at the new range of Essence Colour n Go - photo taken at Priceline Broadway last week! Disappointed that it's not the complete range of nail polish available overseas... 

A not-quite-new-ish Cosmo Cosmetics on George Street - I think it's on the same block as the Galeries Victoria, just further up north.

Revlon and Jordana, including the Jordana Glitters range. 

OPIs from $7 (for shatters) to $13... I spotted the Spiderman collection among others. Saw some OPI My Private Jet but not sure which version (I don't own either). 

Various nail art supplies also available...I didn't end up buying anything because it's cheaper to buy lots online, but if you're in a rush or desperately need something RIGHT NOW, this may be a good option.

So, in general, lots of Sally Hansen, Jordana, OPI and Revlon. Not just nail polish, but various other bits and bobs of makeup, bodycare and fragrance too. They also have brands like MAC and Korres... However, I've seen online grumbles of either old makeup stock or doubtful authenticity so exercise caution, especially with makeup items other than nail polish...!!!

Shopping in Sydney - New Essence Colour & Go in Boho Chic, Gorgeous Bling Bling, Gold Fever

Looky what I picked up just today! Essence has revamped their polish line, getting rid of A LOT of their old range (unfortunately)... but there's also a whole bunch of new colours available! I randomly dropped by a Priceline today and saw the new bottles on display so I picked up some of the more interesting (read: shiny) shades~ =)

The old bottles were pretty cute, but the new ones are a really nice shape. They're a bit larger (sorry should have taken a comparison photo), but still hold 8mls of polish. They also have increased in price to AUD2.75 a bottle though....

The essence "e" is stamped on the top, which I thought was pretty cute. I also liked that you could tell from the bottle caps whether the finish was sparkly or creme (although that was already a feature in the old range).

They have changed the brush! It's now wider, and feels like it holds more polish. I'm a bit concerned that they seem short though? Because the bottle neck is fairly long... it feels like when you get down to halfway, you won't be able to pick much up unless you tilt the bottle or screw the lid back all the way in. =(

I picked up Gold Fever - fine gold glitter with very slightly larger red glitter scattered throughout in a clear base. Nothing tooo spectacular (also I already own the much blingier China Glaze Electrifying...)...

This is Gorgeous Bling Bling... =p It's a dusty rose jelly/creme with gold flakes. Sorry, this image isn't too accurate colour-wise, but the first two bottle pics are much closer. Reminds me a bit of NYX Advanced Salon Formula in Forever Young (swatched here) but more of a terracotta shade.

Boho Chic is a salmon pink with the same gold flakes in it as Gorgeous Bling Bling. =)

I can't wait to try them out... but my untrieds pile is really getting horrendous so I'm not sure how long it'll be.... Has anyone else seen these in store or picked some up? =D

Shopping in Sydney - Discontinued China Glaze, OPI DS

This is an entry for polish hauls and a tip-off for Sydney-siders, or those visiting Sydney, Australia (not the one in Nova Scotia :P). All prices in this entry are in Australian dollar. If you're after discontinued China Glaze and OPI polishes, these are good places to start off:

I found this while searching for delicious fried chicken in Cabramatta, and instead came upon a store with racks of nail polishes. The store is on a little strip of mall, as circled in red above.

If you tend to buy your OPI online, the general OPI polishes here would be more expensive in comparison, having a starting price of $12.50. However, if you're after discontinued items, in particular the nail polish from the OPI Designer Series lines, they go for the same price, which is a total bargain compared to how much they go for on Ebay! Bargain with the owner a little, and you can get the price down to $12 a bottle at the very least, if you're buying more than one.

I didn't look around at anything else, but they do sell other hair products and beauty supplies.

There are two full racks holding OPI, as shown below, and a few smaller racks.

Rosanne gets full credit for pinpointing the exact location of the shop (after I had forgotten the address), taking photos of the OPI racks, and sending me the Google Map image! I have so much appreciation, despite the punny puns that have bombarded me! :P


ProNail Supply
9 Greenfield Pde, Bankstown, NSW

This is a nail polish and manicure equipment heaven for nail polish lovers like us.

Things they sell include:
OPI - $12
OPI DS - $13
Essie - $7/8 (can't remember for sure!)
Orly - $7
China Glaze - $6
Precision - $6
Other items like nail art accessories, fake nails, full-sized nail polish bottles, make up bottles, nail polish thinners, etc.

However, similar to the shop at Cabramatta, most of these go for lower prices online, even with shipping included. The best part about shopping at ProNail Supply though are the discontinued items. You have China Glaze's holographic OMG collection, China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle and Ruby Pumps that seem perpetually sold out in most places, some of OPI's DS collection, and some older Orly shades. I'm only so-so interested in Essie so I didn't really check those out. I don't have anything from Precision, but there looked to be some interesting shades there!

In regards to the OPI DS line, it's only a dollar difference between the two shops, but if you can't find something from the DS line at ProNail, they might be there at Essential Hair, Nail and Beauty Supplies! I only had a quick glance, but it did look like they had most of the OPI DS lines there, if not all.

Paddy's Market

Since we were asked where to get China Glaze, I thought I would include the stall at Paddy's Market. You can get China Glaze there for $8, but the collection is rather limited to only some of the recent collections. The stall is located towards the front of the market. If you come down from the escalators at the main entrance to Market City, turn left and walk a few stalls down. You'll see one that sells only cosmetics, beauty products and nail polish. Tada!

The above are OPI DS Sapphire, Mystery and Original, from left to right. Isn't Original's holo amazing? Ev gave me three gorgeous Essence glitters as well, which I'm not going to photograph since she already did in her haul post.

Shopping in Sydney! - Revlon Matte Suede, Just Tinted, Metallics, Perplex

On that note! Shopping for Sydney girls! In the past few weeks, I've picked up a couple of Revlon polishes around the city area for cheap. Here they are...

The first four, Metallic and Matte Suede in Emerald City, Fire Fox and Ruby Ribbon (L-R) were purchased in a rummage bin at Broadway Shopping Centre ground floor for $3 each! When I was there yesterday, there was plenty of all the above still available, as well as Revlon Perplex and Black with Envy (potential Chanel dupes).

Here's the image I posted earlier on Twitter! The black lids with silver strips are the Matte Suedes.

I haven't got swatches yet, but I did some paper swatches so here's my impression of these. Metallic is an extremely loaded silver foil. Fire Fox is a matte jelly with red shimmer (so it's not a full matte, hence the suede). Red Ribbon is a deep dark matte plum with heavy silver shimmer.

Emerald City is pretty interesting because from what I can tell, it's a faded forest green matte suede... and a potential dupe for OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow (Suede). That means it's going to be dupe test time again soon!

The last one, Revlon Just Tinted in Dawn is a semi-sheer coral jelly. I purchased this for $3 as well at Paddy's Markets, Haymarket. The Just Tinted range is still available at full price in drugstores so this is a pretty good bargain! The seller had all four of the range - Dawn, Victorian, Mystical, Desire, available when I was there last weekend. =)

Also, Ulta3 polish is now $2 per bottle, how awesome is that! My local Coles has also started stocking some of the colours as well. Temptation is everywhere... =p
