This is Dance Legend's Miracle which I thought was a color changing polish, except wait, it's also a thermal polish! But I didn't know that! So I'll have to dig it out to review again because it apparently turns an entirely different colour under the sun.

Miracle is a pale teal when warm, and a brighter medium blue when cold, with silver flakies. The colour change is pretty clear and they're gorgeous shades. I'm looking forward to trying the polish out again and getting the change in colour under the sun too!

Starry Horizons - Born Pretty Holo Thermal Top Coat, OPI Can't Find My Czechbook

Today, I have a top coat colour changing nail polish from Born Pretty to review.

This is Born Pretty' Holo Thermal Top Coat, which is basically a top coat with holo microglitter, that goes black when cold and goes a translucent light gray when warm. I chose OPI's Can't Find My Czechbook as my base coat, which is a faded blue creme polish.

With the Holo Thermal Top Coat applied over OPI's Can't Find My Czechbook, my nails looked like I had on a French manicure where it was mostly a dusky blue with black tips, and holo microglitter running through it. It's getting cold where I am and the thermal polish worked beautifully, maintaining the dual colour easily. I love the versatility of this top coat, because it can create a different look just by having a different base colour. My only one complaint would be how strongly it smells in a somewhat unpleasant way.

None of these states were maintained for long. I had to run my nails under warm or cold water to achieve the look. Most of the time, the mani looked like the first photo, which I much preferred.

Cool Summer Dusk - Born Pretty Couture Precieuse

Look at this fancy piece of work, sent to us from Born Pretty.

This is Born Pretty's Couture Precieuse, from their Cloud Thermal series. (On the box itself, it calls the collection Cloud Mood series but it's called Cloud Thermal on their website.)

It's a thermal nail polish, as evidenced by the series' name, where it is cornflower blue when warm and royal purple when cold. The nail polish is also packed full of gold-green flakies and dries matte (Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat has turned this glossy). I love how it looks!

First of all, I'm really impressed by how sensitive the nail polish is to temperature changes. Even with two layers of top coat (because the nail polish was a little thirsty and didn't smoothen out with just one :P ), the colour changes were magnificent. It's summer where I am now, and thermal nail polishes are usually quite hopeless in warm weather. But this one easily maintained a difference in colour between my cool tips and the nails above my warm nail-beds. I love the colours as well and they looked gorgeous with the flakies. I think the flakies really made this thermal nail polish extra special.

The only complaint I would have about this nail polish is the smell. It has a pretty strong chemical-y smell unfortunately.

Otherwise, it's a beauty, that's for sure!

Velvet Mocha - [Emily de Molly LE82]

I have a beautiful thermal polish to share today.

This is Emily de Molly's LE82 which is a thermal colour changing nail polish. You can see that LE82 is bright pink when warm, and a rich maroon-brown when cold. It has gold holo glitter through it, and dries matte. For reasons unknown, my pinky finger was colder than all my other fingers, so it didn't show the colour change as much in this photo, haha.

I actually did not realize LE82 was a thermal polish at first and thought that EV had given me an interesting maroon-brown nail polish, based on what I had in the bottle. So I had a surprise when it started changing colour on my nails!

Here's a funny inverse situation. I was washing my hands in cold water so my nails turned brown. I then breathed on the tips and with the application of my warm breath, the tips turned bright pink. Ah, colour changing nail polishes are so fun. Of course, this didn't last long because I eventually warmed up enough that the brown turned pink again.

I will say though that it's not very quick to change colour. It's odd, but it's winter now and my other thermal colour changing polishes tend to work really well in this weather because I tend to run hot, while the tips of my nails remain cold. But LE82 actually remained pink for the most part, until it was unusually cold. So, that's a little unusual. But LE82 applies smoothly and is a lovely colour in any case. I don't have anything like it in my collection.

Rippling Change - Dance Legend Wind of Change, Composure, Hex

I'm trying something new here! So this is a result of combining colour changing nail polish with dry 'water marbling' mani. What do you think?

I kind of love the result. And the look of it just changes all the time, which keeps it even more interesting.

So, how I started was to apply 'water marbling' on my silicone nail art mat. I go into more detail on my method in this post.  I tried a couple different colours and drew two different patterns just so I could get a feel of the nail polishes and which colours would go well together.

Here's the mani peeled off the silicone nail art mat. I chose 9 with the same colours, and one for an accent nail to see how it would end up looking on my nails. The nail polishes I used were Dance Legend Wind of Change, Dance Legend Composure, and Dance Legend Hex. It's a Dance Legend theme!

Wind of Change is a blue to purple thermal colour changing nail polish with scattered holo microglitter. Ev and I have reviewed that in the past here and here.

I can't believe I don't have a swatch and review of Dance Legend Composure. I'll remedy that as soon as I have access to my nail polishes again, because that's a gorgeous nail polish. Composure is a pale gold to medium pink thermal colour change polish with larger silver flecks.

I also used Dance Legend Hex, a dusty red to almost-black rusty red thermal colour change nail polish which you can see a review of here.

I'll go through how I paired them below.

Here, I was mainly feeling warm, so you can see just a slight colour change. You can see a more obvious colour change in the first picture of this post, up above. For this, I have paired Wind of Change with Composure. Composure is pale gold, almost silver against my nail bed, and is slightly pink at the tips of my nails. Wind of Change is blue against my nail bed, with a hint of purple towards the tips of my nails. I love how this looks.

On my other hand, there's the same pairing of Wind of Change with Composure, but for the accent nail, I have paired Composure with Hex instead. So you can see Hex is the part that is dusty red against the nail bed and a very deep red towards the tips. The contrast for Composure against Hex is more obvious when warm.

In comparison, this is how the mani looked when I was feeling pretty cold during the day. Everything has colour changed. The contrast of Wind of Change's purple against Composure's pink is not very obvious here.

Here's how the mani look when it was very cold, later that night. By the way, this mani was done when it was still winter last year, so the colour change was very prominent. You can see the difference in colour between the two different polishes much more clearly now. Wind of Change's purple was very deep and Composure's pink was pretty bright as well under the colder temperature.

Here's another daytime photo of the mani to show how different fingers can have different looks as well, just depending on which one feels colder.

This was such a delightful mani for me! :D  The only downside is that as you know, it does use a bit more nail polish to do water marbling than just plain straight application. But I don't think it made such a huge dent, and the end result is worth it!

Pink Lemonade - Born Pretty Colour Changing Thermal #025

Time for a gauge on the temperature!

This is Born Pretty's 025 from their colour changing thermal collection here. As you can see, it's a sweet peach pink when warm at normal human temperature, and a medium pink when it's cool like how it was on the tips of my nails.

I was feeling a little warmer when I took the photo against the nail polish bottle here, so you can see how that affects the overall look, the tips having lightened considerably.

I find polish #025 to be very sensitive to temperature which makes it an excellent mani to have when you have rather long nails. No need for cold water and warm water just to show you the colour change, which it's usually necessary what with summer being in full swing over here. Typically when it's this warm, you only see the warm colours for thermal nail polish, but #025 managed to pick up on the slight difference in temperature between the tips of my nails compared to the nail bed. When I was in the office where the air conditioning is on at full blast, the pink on the tips get even a shade darker.

Sheer Petal - Liquid Sky Lacquer 24 Karat Rose

Ah, here's a polish that I've had for ages but just could never get to work for me!

This is Liquid Sky Lacquer 24 Karat Rose, a sheer shimmer thermal polish which is meant to shift from gold when warm to a rose red shade when cold.

This was two coats, in the warm gold shade. As you can see, it is sheer enough that there is still a visible nail line. However, it's quite a nice soft shimmer finish. I think it would be quite nice for a subtle worksafe manicure.

Now I literally hung on to a bag of frozen peas for a few minutes, with the nail tips pressed up against the cold, but I just cannot get it to shift further than a soft peachy pink shade!

I've googled around and people are getting this amazingly bright rose red shade but I am coming nowhere close, oh dear... I guess I'll just have to manage with a soft blush rather than raging rose.. =p

Blush It - Dance Legend Collection SUN shine #194 UV colour change

I was looking at this polish in my stash, wondering why I picked up a creme glitter from Dance Legend out of all the many interesting polishes that they stock...

...then I realised that this is from their SUN shine collection which is a range of polishes that change colour in response to UV light! That deep pink/purple spot on the polish bottle is where I briefly shone a UV light on the polish bottle!

This one is #194 and it's a really sweet happy polish - like a strawberry cream cupcake with hundreds and thousands! I really liked this colour combination. In the absence of UV light, the base is actually almost grey-white. It slowly darkens to a pinkish purple as the amount of UV exposure increases.

There are three different sizes of hex glitter in the polish in many shades - gold, blue, magenta, orangey-red. I used two coats here and the glitter density is great, no need to fish around to pick up all the glitter bits!

Here's the colour after I shone a UV torch on two nails. This polish changes colour really quickly! You only need to be in (or out) of the sun for 10 seconds or so (depending on light intensity of course) to get the full colour change.

Check it out! Isn't it an amazing contrast in full sun? I'm pretty impressed with this UV colour change polish!

Dune Buggy - Dance Legend Bow Conversion Wind of Change, Mundo de Unas Purple, Born Pretty BP-L050

These days, I rarely leave a colour on without doing something else over it! So here's what I did over last week's polish...

The pattern I used was from Born Pretty stamping plate BP-L050 which was generously provided by Born Pretty for review! This one came in a super cute Christmas themed cardboard sleeve with the usual blue protective film.

And a whole bunch of cool patterns to use! The one I picked is on the top row, second from the right. You can see that the pattern is finer and closer together at one end and then spreads out at the other end. So I decided to place the denser side along the nail bed end.

The stamping polish I used was Mundo de Unas Purple, which as you can see in the bottle, has separated a little. I was a bit too lazy to shake it up thoroughly which I later found makes cleaning up a bit harder! So that's a lesson for next time!

I haven't got a photo to show this, but my idea going in was that when the thermal base darkens to purple in the cold, the stamped design blends in, whereas when it's warm (and therefore lavender) you can see the stamp pattern much clearer! 

As always, the stamping plate was of good quality and I had no issues at all picking up the design, even fine details. I quickly stamped a few designs that caught my eye on some paper, so you can see that even fine lines are picked up easily!
