Bright Seas - Nail Pattern Boldness Flipping Out Hard, Nail-Venturous Floam

I did this as the Halloween gradient challenge as well, but I thought yesterday's green and orange manicure was more fitting, so I'm posting this one today instead.

As mentioned yesterday, Nail Pattern Boldness provides full coverage in two coats, so I didn't actually need to use Essence Viva La Green as a base coat. I used Nail-Venturous Floam to build up a darker green gradient towards the tips. As it was rather dense in glitter as well, it was difficult to make the gradient as gradual, but I tried by using very thin coats.

The last two photos are indoor pictures. Taking photos of my nails with thumb included feels awkward to me, so you don't see my thumb often. Relish this rare moment! :P

Flipping Out Hard and Floam actually consist of the same colours. Flipping Out Hard has more yellow glitter, so it looks like a bright neon green, while Floam has more mid-blue glitter, so it looks like a sea-foam green. They are both incredibly dense, and can provide full coverage in two to three coats on their own. I think Floam is more top coat thirsty than Flipping Out Hard.

If you have one and are wondering if you should get the other, I recommend that you do. They're both very pretty and different enough that there's definitely room for both. :)

Glitterazzle-dazzle - Milani, Nabi, Canmake, Kleancolor, Picture Polish, Nailventurous

So I often play around with layering glitters so I end up with lots of photos of glitter layering skittles. I tell myself it's to remind me what they look like for the next time I'm looking to layer on some glitz... Although... whether I can correctly remember the combinations might be another matter entirely...

Here's a selection of skittles I've done!

From left to right:
[1] Milani Teal from the One Coat Glitter collection, possibly over Essence Blue Addicted. Excellent depth but formula can be a bit thick.
[2] Picture Polish Mask-a-rade over a black creme (LA Girl Blackout). Mask-a-rade is a combo of three different multichrome glitters. You can sort of see the colour shift in the photo.
[3] Nail-Venturous Floam... no idea over what... O_o;; Floam is a combination of blue and yellow matte glitter.

From left to right:

[1] Nabi Party Mania Glitter over a plain black creme (LA Girl Blackout). Party Mania is a black jelly base with a combo of 3 different-sized hex glitters in blue, gold, silver, yellow and magenta. I somehow didn't get any magenta on this skittle. There's also a sprinkling of large green hexes which I also did not pick up. An interesting one, for sure! Not super dense on the glitter so strictly a layering glitter.

[2] Oh deaar... This is some blue base possibly also Essence Blue Addicted... then topped with Canmake 30, a blue jelly with loads of iridescent glitter (the stuff flashing blue and gold). THEN, topped with a layer of Nabi Lilac Jumbo Glitter... which is a crazy mishmash of three sizes of gold-green duochrome glitter and purple holographic bar glitter.

[3] This is a base of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlet (previously posted here) and then topped with Nabi Lilac Jumbo Glitter like the middle skittle.

Geeeee, that took longer than I expected to type out... My glitter polishes are taking over the collection, oh no! Oh, who am I kidding...MORE LIKE OH, YEAHHHHH~ ;D

Fish Food - Nail-Venturous Floam, Ulta3 Pacific Fever, Essence Viva La Green

I was lucky enough to be at my computer when I received a notification from Ninja Polish that Nail-Venturous' Floam was in stock! This was several weeks back now, but I'm only just getting around to my swatches. In this post, I try out two different undies for Floam.

I love Floam because of how colourful it is without being glittery and it has been on my lemming list the moment I saw the first ever swatch. But Floam needs three thin coats for full coverage, and the more coats I used, the grittier it became as well. This is definitely a top-coat eater, so you'll need a thick top coat - or two - over it.

On my thumbnail, I used Ulta3 Pacific Fever as the base coat, with one coat of Floam over it. Pacific Fever is a medium jade green polish with a gold shimmer through it. Against the other Floam-only nails, you can see that the one with Pacific Fever as the base does look a little darker. Perhaps two coats of Floam would have been better!

In this one, my pinky has Essence Viva La Green as the base, with one coat of Floam over it, while the other nails have three coats of Floam. I think the colour difference is almost indistinguishable! Viva La Green is a bright pastel green, and seems to make a good match to Floam, if you want something that blends in, rather than have Floam pop even more.

With a base colour, Floam is definitely less gritty and is easier to remove too. More layers of just Floam does give the mani a little more depth though, so there is a trade off.

I was so excited when I received Floam that I even colour-coordinated my clothes to the polish. I wore my only dress that had bright green running through it during my first day with Floam!

The reason why I call this entry Fish Food is because Floam really reminds me of bright fish food of yonder days. :P
