So Juicy - Rimmel Orangina

I think I bought this on a whim because it was on special and I wanted to build up my collection of creme polishes at the time (what do you mean I already have a dozen orange cremes...??)

[Bottle to nail: Rimmel Orangina (2 coats)]
This is Rimmel Orangina, which from the lid I assume is associated with Rita Ora. Orangina is actually a really hard shade to photograph! From the name, it looks like a straight orange creme, but it actually leans more coral than my photos show!

[2 coats: Rimmel Orangina]
It's also unique in that in certain lighting it looks muted/pastel but in other lights, it almost looks fluoro! What a strange shade, but I really liked it!

[2 coats: Rimmel Orangina]
Formula was excellent, I used two coats for this and lasting power was pretty good too. I'm really happy with this impulse buy!

Confetti - Dance Legend Step LE-07, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

It's been awhile since I've gone full glitter so I had a go again.

[Glitter Party!]
This is Step LE-07 from Dance Legend, which is a bottle full of glitter, painted against a base coat of Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue, which is a beautiful royal blue creme.

[Top coat: Dance Legend's Step LE-07
Base coat: Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue]
Step LE-07 is a mix of textured silver holo hex glitter, and smaller pink and blue hex glitter. I have to say, the textured silver holo hex glitter is a little weird and distracting among the explosion of glitter. Step LE-07 is packed to the rafters with glitter, so you don't have to go fishing for glitter at all. Just one or two coats to get the above effect.

Croco-Naw - Essie Crocadilly

Remember the magnetic polish trend? That seems like forever ago, now!

[No to crocs]
Here, I'll demonstrate why I never got into it all that much! I think you can already see why... =p

[Bottle to nail: Essie Crocadilly (2 coats)]
I am trying out Essie Crocadilly, a deep green shimmer that looks slightly metallic due to the silvery magnetic particles. Most magnet designs were simple stripes or stars, but Essie was going for a crocodile-skin finish here, I assume! The magnet itself is within the outer lid of the polish, which detaches from the inner lid which has the brush attached.

[2 coats: Essie Crocadilly]
Unfortunately, I have such fantastically curved nails that it is so hard to get an even pattern throughout! Each layer is quite opaque, even after magnetising, so you could get away with a single layer.

I think this has just reinforced the fact that magnetic polish is just a trend I couldn't get into. A pity because as you can sort-of-maybe tell from my middle finger (flattest nail) and pinky (least real estate), that the crosshatch pattern can be quite striking!

Faded Cornflowers - OPI Show Us Your Tips

Back to the basics for me!

[OPI Show Us Your Tips]
This is OPI Show Us Your Tips, a medium blue creme with a visible silver shimmer. It's a very pretty shade with a nice consistency.

[OPI Show Us Your Tips]
I'm really glad I picked up this shade, even though I had told myself I had enough blue nail polishes!

Poppin Pink - Tropez Rose Pearl

It's retro polish time! I recently did a big spring-clean of my polish stash and not only did a massive cull, but reorganised everything (Yes, I have a Helmer now! No, it doesn't fit all my nail polish...) and found a lot of beauties in my stash that I haven't touched for ages!

[Bottle to nail: Tropez Rose Pearl (2 coats)]
This is one of them - Tropez Super Pearl in Rose Pearl. I have a whole bunch of Tropez Super Pearl polishes because I was super impressed with how glowy the shimmer was and ordered heaps from the internet... =p

[2 coats: Tropez Rose Pearl]
Rose Pearl is really an amazingly glowy hot pink. You know when you swipe a shade on and it's just super packed with pigment. I still did two coats anyway as you can see, it looks very slightly jelly.

[2 coats: Tropez Rose Pearl]
It made me very happy seeing this bright pop of colour on my nails, especially on cold winter days! Can't wait to swatch all the other polishes I've rediscovered in my collection~!

Sunny Garden - Born Pretty thermal polish #100, HaruNoUta L036

I have such an adorable plate to show you today.

[Born Pretty HaruNoUta L036]
This is another plate sent to me by Born Pretty for review - HaruNoUta L036. Just check out those cute little succulents and gardening goodies! It comes with a protective blue film and pretty floral cardboard sleeve as well.

[Base: Born Pretty thermal polish #100 (2 coats); Stamping: HaruNoUta L036]
I had this idea in my head of a cheerful mani with bright colours... so I tried my hand at making little succulent decals... My base shade is also from Born Pretty, thermal polish #100 which I've previously reviewed here.

[Base: Born Pretty thermal polish #100 (2 coats); Stamping: HaruNoUta L036]
LOL... they aren't too bad, but I think I underestimated the size of my nails and picked the smallest designs I could find! Could probably have done with the larger designs to fill up more of the space on the nail. I also had issues with placement on my thumb as you can see...

[Base: Born Pretty thermal polish #100 (2 coats); Stamping: HaruNoUta L036]
Oh man, such a cute plate though - I really want to stamp more with this to do it justice!

Rainbow Scales - Born Pretty

Today, I'm trying out something with an awesome name, but which my photos just can't do it any justice. This is Born Pretty's Holographic Unicorn Nail Powder BX07.

[Born Pretty's Holographic Unicorn Nail Powder BX07 over black base and pale blue base]
So, my photos are completely misleading. The holographic unicorn nail powder BX07 is a pink-green duochrome with a dash of holo powder, applied over a pale blue base for my index finger and over a black base for the rest of the nails.

For some crazy reason, my photos could only capture the holo when in real life, the pink-green flash is much more prominent while the holo is in the background. I suppose if you squint, you can see that the powder over a black base is slightly green-ish while the powder over the pale blue base has a hint of pink. That's the closest it gets in these photos, weirdly enough, even though in person, the pink flash is very prominent while the green flash is there at acute angles.

[Born Pretty's Holographic Unicorn Nail Powder BX07 over black base and pale blue base]
The first blurry photo is just to show you how much shine there is on the nails, even though I can't photograph the right one. Because I hate curing my nails with a UV lamp, I used Emily de Molly's Special Effects Base Coat for both the base coat before I applied the powder, and as the top coat to seal to powder in. It actually works surprisingly well as a top coat too, even though you do have to leave it to dry for a bit. But that's the exchange for not having to dig up the UV lamp.

Here's where you can find Born Pretty's Holographic Unicorn Nail Powder BX07. And if you do feel like shopping around at Born Pretty, remember you can use our 10% off code below if it's a full price item.

Thank you for checking it out!
