Mystery Beach - Emily de Molly Shallow Depths

Who doesn't love a good multichrome!

[Dip yer toes]
This is definitely a good one too! Check out those shifty shades!

[Bottle to nail: Emily de Molly Shallow Depths (2 coats)]
Here's Shallow Depths by Emily de Molly, a gorgeous green-blue-purple multichrome shimmer polish.

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Shallow Depths]
Isn't it amazing! The colour shift is just as obvious on the nail too. I had lots of fun staring at my nails at different angles.

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Shallow Depths]
Formula was fantastic as always, this was two coats, quick drying and non-streaky. Not like old school multichromes with opacity issues, you definitely don't need a black base here! Just slap on a layer of topcoat for extra shine and you're all done~

Look It Up - Emily de Molly Urban Dictionary

I have a gorgeous multichrome to show off today - check it out below!

[Super fly]
So many colours, this photo doesn't even capture them all...!

[Bottle to nail: Emily de Molly Urban Dictionary (2 coats)]
This is Urban Dictionary from Emily de Molly. It's a shimmer finish multichrome that shifts from olive green, to blue to purple riiiight on the edges. Such a rich vampy combination!

I've put a whole bunch of photos together below to show off the colour change.

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Urban Dictionary]
The formula was nice and opaque in two coats. It's very slightly prone to flooding but not unmanageably so. Unfortunately the combination of base and/or top coat must not have agreed with this one, because I experienced chipping within a day or two. Oh well, still a lovely shade!

Diagon Alley - OPI Embrace the Grey, Born Pretty M016 Lovely Princess

Hello hello! Today I have another gorgeous polish to review.

[Swish and flick]
Look at all the colours - multichrome heaven!

[Born Pretty Magical Series M016 Lovely Princess]
This polish is M016 Lovely Princess, kindly provided by Born Pretty for review. Lovely Princess is from their Magical Series range and is a multichrome flakie that shifts predominantly from green-gold-pink. At extreme angles, you get an amazing flash of blue, which you can see in the photos coming up!

[Bottle to nail: OPI Embrace the Grey (2 coats)]
My base shade from last week is OPI Embrace the Grey, a medium grey creme opaque in two coats. All ready for some flashy bling!

[Bottle to nail: Born Pretty M016 Lovely Princess;
Base:
OPI Embrace the Grey (2 coats)]
Here you can see the strong greeny-gold shades at an angel, while straight on, the magenta-pink shift is very obvious. The shift is actually better in person than in the photos!

[Base: OPI Embrace the Grey (2 coats); Flakie: Born Pretty M016 Lovely Princess]
Basically, I taped off each nail diagonally and then applied Lovely Princess in the untaped portion. This is just one dabbed coat on each nail! Really dense flakies and great coverage! The flakes all laid nicely flat and I didn't have a problem topcoating. In the top photo here, you can see the blue coming through right at the edges.

[Base: OPI Embrace the Grey (2 coats); Flakie: Born Pretty M016 Lovely Princess]
Definitely a lovely strong colour shift with excellent flakie density - what more could you ask for! I have also previously reviewed M012 Destiny Fairy, a green-purple flakie from the same collection.

[Left: Born Pretty M016 Lovely Princess; Right: Emily de Molly Insipid]
I thought the colour shift was familiar, so I looked through my collection and found Insipid from Emily de Molly. Turns out that while the base shade is similar, EdM Insipid appears to have some blue flakes, whereas Lovely Princess has larger flake sizes.

Anyhoo, if you would like to check out the Magical Series collection, you can find it here at Born Pretty. As always, our code above can be used for a bit of extra discounting off full priced products! Happy shopping!

Rainbow Lights - Born Pretty Magical Series M012 Destiny Fairy, Dance Legend Hell Money

Hello all! Today I have one of the new multichrome flakie polishes from Born Pretty to review.

[Rainbow Lights]
Check it out! This one is from the Magical Series - M012 Destiny Fairy. It's predominantly a green-to-purple shift but you get a hint of bronze at extreme angles, as you can see in the bottle pic.

[Born Pretty Magical Series - M012 Destiny Fairy]
This polish comes packaged in a nice matte cardboard box and a holographic sticker at the bottom with the product name and number.

[Base: LA Girl Blackout (1 coat); Flakie: Born Pretty Destiny Fairy (1 coat)]
As suggested, I used one layer of a plain black creme, and then applied Destiny Fairy over the top. These pics are just one coat over the black base! I was so impressed with the flake density and coverage. I reckon you could just use two coats of the flakie polish and skip the black base. The photos above show the green-purple shift. You can even see a hint of gold in the bottom photo!

[Base: LA Girl Blackout (1 coat); Flakie: Born Pretty Destiny Fairy (1 coat)]
In terms of dry time, this dried quite quick which is always a plus. The brush is also wide which allows you to pick up a decent amount of polish and makes it easy to paint each nail in 2-3 swipes. The flakes lay nicely flat for a smooth sparkly finish. Definitely an easy polish to work with! I'd love to try out their other shades!

[Left: Born Pretty Destiny Fairy; Right: Dance Legend Hell Money]
I noticed that I'm very prone to buying polishes which are veeerrrryyy similar, so when I received this for review, I got this feeling I'd swatched something similar before. So here's Dance Legend Hell Money next to Destiny Fairy. It looks more different here due to the different bottle shapes, but both are green-purple shifters.

[Base: LA Girl Blackout (1 coat); Middle: Dance Legend Hell Money (1 coat);
Index, Ring, Pinky:
Born Pretty Destiny Fairy (1 coat)]
Can you tell which is which? I think so! My middle finger is Hell Money, and the others are Destiny Fairy. Basically, the flakes are larger and the shift is more pronounced with Destiny Fairy. Hell Money also leans slightly more to the green shift. Other than that, they are really quite similar! In fact, I'm kinda liking the finish of Destiny Fairy more, purely from a sparkly point of view!

[Base: LA Girl Blackout (1 coat); Flakie: Born Pretty Destiny Fairy (1 coat);
Topcoat: Born Pretty Matte Topcoat (1 coat)]
I ended up topping off the polish with a layer of matte topcoat because flakies always look awesome matte-ified. This photo is under nice diffuse fluorescents at work and is a really great demonstration of the flake size and excellent colour shift-iness.

If you're interested in checking out Destiny Fairy, you can find it here on the Born Pretty site. They have plenty more in the range, including matching multichrome shimmer polishes! As always, you can use our code above for a little extra discount off non-sale items. =)

Magic Fantastic - Dance Legend Supernatural

I just love the multichrome metallic flakies from the Dance Legend Mystery collection! Here's a lovely one that Jme gifted me last year..

[Bottle to nail: Dance Legend Supernatural (2 coats)]
This one is Supernatural, which is a clear base packed full of metallic flakies that shift from purple to gold at extreme angles. There's also a whole bunch of other colours packed in there that you can see in the bottle photo above - eg magenta-blue flakies. It definitely gives a very complex look to the finish rather than a flat single duochrome polish.

[2 coats: Dance Legend Supernatural]
Here's two photos to show the main purple shade, and then the bronze/gold at extreme angles. Very good colour shift!

[2 coats: Dance Legend Supernatural]
I think these photos were taken without topcoat, so it's not a completely smooth appearance, even though the flakes definitely lay flat on the nail. In general, an excellent formula - quick-drying, opaque in two coats (and on fairly long nails for myself even!) and no need for fishing around.

[2 coats: Dance Legend Supernatural]
The first and last photos in this post were taken in direct lighting to show how reflective the flakes are. Definitely a great polish for the collection!

Space Commander - Glam Polish Hat Trick

After all the stamping adventures in the last few posts, I was hankering for a nice, no-fuss shade but still with some wow factor. This is what I ended up with.

[Whoa, Nelly]
Multichrome holographic goodness!

[Bottle to nail: Glam Polish Hat Trick (2 coats)]
This is Hat Trick from Glam Polish. In the bottle, it looks like a purpley-gold mix but in the right light, all these amazing shades and rainbow particles come out to play.

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hat Trick]
The general look of it is a slightly dusty purple shimmer, but at an angle, it shifts to gold and green. The holographic particles are more of a scattered type rather than a linear holo, and these are not too obvious until you have direct light or sunlight, then whoaaa, blingy.

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hat Trick]
Here's a photo of the various shades you get at different angles.

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hat Trick]
Same pose but with some bright cool light from my mobile phone torch setting. Look at that amazing acid green on the pinky.

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hat Trick]
Overall, I've really liked multichromes from Glam Polish! Formula is great and the shades don't disappoint. This one was two coats to full opacity with good dry time and smooth finish, so yes, I think I achieved my no-fuss fancy mani for the week!

Full Speed Ahead - Dance Legend Pulsar

I think these pics are a bit old! This polish was one of my birthday pressies from Jme in 2014, wow!

[Bottle to nail: Dance Legend Pulsar (2-3 coats)]
Still gorgeous though! This one's Dance Legend Pulsar, a multichrome shimmer with scattered holo glitter for added bling.

[2-3 coats: Dance Legend Pulsar]
Not the best photos unfortunately, but this polish shifts from deep blurple to bronze-gold at the edges. Nice thin formula opaque in 2-3 coats depending on the length of your nails.

[2-3 coats: Dance Legend Pulsar]
As always, another lovely shade from Dance Legend - this one reminds me a bit of souped up cars with multichrome paint, hah!

No Worries - Glam Polish Hakuna Matata

What's that? Holographic and multichrome polish? Yes, indeed! Two good things make an even better one!

[Bottle to nail: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata (2 coats)]
This beauty is Hakuna Matata from Glam Polish's You're Never Too Old To Be Young collection. As described on their site, Hakuna Matata is a "multichrome holo that shifts from Green-Violet-Blue-Red". I've tried my best to capture this so let's see how it went!

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata]
Here's our violet...

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata]
Shifting to blue... (such a gorgeous blue too!)

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata]
...and finally a bright blue-leaning green!

I'm not sure if the red is all that visible, but that might be it on the edges of the nail. The colour shift from purple to blue and green is super visible, especially in direct lighting. I was super impressed!

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata (with flash)]
The holo is less obvious in my photos as these are indoors but here's a crappy mobile phone photo with flash to show the holo (and bright green! <3)

[2 coats: Glam Polish Hakuna Matata]
Formula was great, I'm fairly sure these were 2 coats. Wear time was also pretty good. All in all a multifaceted polish with lots of character! Definitely one to pick up if you can. In fact, there are so many fabulous shades at Glam Polish that you'll be spoilt for choice!
