Magic Moment - Born Pretty BP-RR03 Dream Fairy

Today I'm reviewing a gorgeous holo polish provided to us for review from Born Pretty.

[In the box: Born Pretty BP-RR03 Dream Fairy]

As Jme has mentioned in her last post, the latest collection comes in lovely new packaging with a luxe look to it, complete with a peacock feather motif.

[Bottle to nail: Born Pretty BP-RR03 Dream Fairy (2 coats)]
The shade I'm reviewing today is part of Born Pretty's the Rose Road series Deluxe Holographic collection, and this one is called BP-RR03 Dream Fairy. Isn't it gorgeous!

[2 coats: Born Pretty BP-RR03 Dream Fairy]
Dream Fairy is one of those blurple (blue-purple) shades that are really hard to capture on camera. I would say it's quite purple to the eye in real life. It's also jam-packed with holographic particles, as you can see!

[2 coats: Born Pretty BP-RR03 Dream Fairy]
Formula was excellent, I think I could've used just one coat but I used two just in case, then topped off with a clear topcoat.

There's a whopping 10 shades in this collection so be sure to check them out here! As usual, our code above will give a further 10% off full-priced items at Born Pretty. =)

Forest Pools - Born Pretty The Rhine

I'm bringing to you flakey fun today!

[Forest Pools]
This is The Rhine from Born Pretty's Emerald Road series. This densely packed bottle of flakies was sent to us from Born Pretty for review.

[Packaging for The Rhine]

[Nail to bottle]
I'm rather liking this fancy packaging. The decorated white box with the little window does make it feel classier. And the bottle itself is pretty snazzy itself, with an elegant matte grip for the brush's handle. I also liked that they named the nail polish collection and all the nail polishes this time, instead of just sticking to a bunch of descriptive words or random numbers. Overall, I'm really digging this new look!

Now, enough on the exterior, onward to the nail polish!

[3 coats of Born Pretty's The Rhine over a black base]
The Rhine is densely packed with multichrome flakies, with a colour shift from blue to brilliant green to bronze to magenta-pink. It's also got holographic microglitter in the mix. They have to be used against a black base for the colours to really stand out. Alas, my camera absolutely refuses to capture the flash of magenta pink, but it's actually very strongly present in person.

The strongest and most obvious colour shift is from green to pink. I wish I could adequately photograph that! The flakies and holo are densely packed enough that with three coats, the base is barely visible, as seen above.

[1 coat of Born Pretty's The Rhine over a black base]
These photos are for one coat of The Rhine over a black base. I have got to say, I think I actually prefer this, where you can still mostly see the base. It provides a sharper contrast to the colour of the flakies.

[3 coats of Born Pretty's The Rhine over a black base]
Here's a shot that managed to capture the holographic glitter, which is especially visible under bright indoor lighting.  All in all, this is a satisfactorily shiny multichrome flakey with holo to jazz it up.

The Rhine can be found here at Born Pretty.

Summer Juice - Emily de Molly Now and Later

This is another shade I recently received from Jme for my birthday! It's just perfect for the warming weather...!

[Bottle to nail: Emily de Molly Now and Later (2 coats)]
This is Emily de Molly Now and Later which is described as a neon pink with gold-to-green shifting shimmer and silver metallic micro glitter.

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Now and Later]
I didn't actually think it was a neon pink before reading the official description! It definitely comes off more as a neon coral due to the heavy gold shimmer. I also didn't notice much green colour shift. However, I quite like how it looks as is! It's such a fresh summer shade~

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Now and Later]
Like a lot of neon shades, it dries slightly matte, which I actually like the look of. I used two coats, beautiful coverage, good dry time, and relatively smooth finish. I did not actually use topcoat for this because I loved the semi-matte look!

[2 coats: Emily de Molly Now and Later]
Definitely a gorgeous shade without the neon being too in-your-face. Very happy to have this in my collection!

Lost in the Snow - Emily de Molly The Maze and The Hightower[

This is Emily de Molly's The Maze and The Hightower, which is a subtle colour changing polish.

[Emily de Molly The Maze and The Hightower]
It's more obvious in the second one for some reason. The Maze and The Hightower is a pale icy blue when warm, and a medium teal when cold, with a clear pink shimmer, silver glitter, and pink-green duochrome flakies all through it. The colour shift is subtle, but I have to say, I love it.

[Emily de Molly The Maze and The Hightower]
Here, you can see the flakies better here with the extreeeeeme close-up.

[Emily de Molly The Maze and The Hightower]
This is how The Maze and The Hightower looks when cool (a splash of cold water).

[Emily de Molly The Maze and The Hightower]
This is how it looks when warm. I do find it a bit funny that at a warmer temperature, the nail polish looks even more icy cold.

I do love both shades and kind of wish I had separate polishes of them.

Neon Splatter - Essie Garden Variety, Hit the Bottle I Pink, therefore I am, Orange you excited?, Born Pretty BP-L010

I'm not too sure if this is a fail or a success, maybe something in between!

[Bright blooms]
I don't think it looks terrible exactly, just maybe not quite what I was going for. I was imagining a bright retro print type of  finish, but it's more of a graffiti design now!

[Bottle to nail: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats)]
I reviewed my base in my last post, but here it is again - Essie Garden Variety, a lovely teal green creme.

[Base: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats); Plate: Born Pretty BP-L010;
Stamping: Hit the Bottle I Pink, therefore I am, Orange you excited?]
Using two neon stamping polishes from Hit the Bottle, "I Pink, therefore I am" and "Orange you excited?", I used a design from Born Pretty plate BP-L010 which incorporates filled in flowers as well as flower outlines.

[Base: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats); Plate: Born Pretty BP-L010;
Stamping: Hit the Bottle I Pink, therefore I am, Orange you excited?]
Now what I'm actually trying to achieve is gradient stamping, by painting two stripes of different polish before scraping off and therefore blending the two shades in a gradient.

I was not very successful! So some of it ended up just layered over the other instead! My pinky nail up there is vaguely what I was planning initially...

[Base: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats); Plate: Born Pretty BP-L010;
Stamping: Hit the Bottle I Pink, therefore I am, Orange you excited?]
I think the problem here is that I'm not working fast enough and/or scraping too much off the plate as I found it really difficult to pick up the design on my stamper. It seemed fine with just a single colour so I think the slight extra time it takes for the second shade to go on the plate is the issue here.

I'll try this again next time with regular stamping polishes, and hopefully I'll be a bit more successful!

Spring Shoots - Essie Garden Variety

Today I am showing off one of many gifts I received from Jme for my birthday this year!

[Bottle to nail: Essie Garden Variety (2 coats)]
This is Essie Garden Variety from the Spring 2015 Flowerista collection, a teal-green creme polish.

[2 coats: Essie Garden Variety]
I love bluey-green shades and this one is no exception! I think if I were to describe the shade, this leans a liiiitttle more towards the green side.

[2 coats: Essie Garden Variety]
It also helps that this one is a lovely squishy glossy formula with nice opacity. I still used two coats for these to deepen the colour a bit more. It dries fairly quickly as well, so basically I had zero issues with this! Love it!

Tropicana - Ulta3 Atomic OJ, Ulta3 Tahiti

Today is all about neons and reverse French manicures.

[Ulta3 Atomic OJ
Ulta3 Tahiti]
I actually prefer using a shiny foil when doing reverse French manicures but I'm in a neon mood of late. As usual, I did this by freehand. When the polish is not too thick, it's pretty easy to do by French manicures or reverse French manicures by freehand.

The lighter orange is Ulta3's Atomic OJ, and it's a much more neon orange shade in real life compared to my photos. The darker neon pink-orange shade is Ulta3's Tahiti, and also much more neon in real life compared to my photos. My camera just doesn't do well with neons!

Sunken Treasure - Innisfree 38, OPI Russian Navy Matte

I actually picked this one up over a year ago while I was on a short layover in Singapore and wanted to use up the last of my foreign currency...

[Bottle to nail: Innisfree 38 (1 coat) over OPI Russian Navy Matte (1 coat)]
How could I resist this colour combination! This one is Innisfree 38 from their 'real color nail' range. It's a combination of teal, blue, gold and silver glitter of various shapes and sizes in a clear base.

[1 coat: Innisfree 38 over OPI Russian Navy Matte (1 coat)]
I used OPI Russian Navy matte as my base shade as I wanted a blue-ish base that dried quickly. Then I used one coat of Innisfree 38 over the top, applying more in a dabbing motion to place the glitter where I wanted.

[1 coat: Innisfree 38 over OPI Russian Navy Matte (1 coat)]
The clear base was a bit thick for my liking but because it was easy enough to pick up enough glitter, I only needed one dabbed coat for the coverage above. The glitter pieces all laid flat and despite the thick layer of polish, dry time wasn't too much of a pain.

[1 coat: Innisfree 38 over OPI Russian Navy Matte (1 coat)]
Overall, I'm pretty happy... I was actually tossing up between glossy topcoat or matte but ended up going the glossy route. I reckon a matte coat would look amazing with this glitter topper as well!
