Deluxe Teal - Sinful Colors Rise and Shine, Finger Paints Flecked, LA Splash Jade

I was digging through my folders and came across this layering experiment that I did almost 2 years ago! I think I was playing around with similar shades and whatever was on my desk at the time probably...

[All aboard!]
Obviously the theme here is blue-green so let's see what went into this!

[In the bottle: Sinful Colors Rise and Shine]
The base shade was Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (at least I think so! I also own Mint Apple and I think that one is very similar but a shade lighter). I've worn Rise and Shine as a full mani a bit more recently so check out that post here.

[2 coats: Sinful Colors Rise and Shine]
The ring finger there is my old habit of testing out layering on one finger before proceeding (also, forgetting to take photos before said testing!)

[Base: Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (2 coats); Flakies: Finger Paints Flecked (1 coat)]
I then followed it up with a layer of Finger Paints Flecked, a green to blue flakie polish in a translucent base. I've used Flecked previously in a couple different combinations as well. Nothing like a good flakie to mix and remix.

[Base: Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (2 coats); Flakies: Finger Paints Flecked (1 coat)
Glitter: LA Splash Jade (1 coat)]
... and finally, I topped it off with a layer of LA Splash Jade! I suspect trying out this polish was the point of all this messing around, hehe. Jade is a beautiful glitter topper that also shifts from blue to green. Super mermaid-y but rather subtle (as you can tell) despite its flashiness in the bottle.

Another one in the "not quite sure if it worked" bin! I'll need to revisit Jade and work out a nice base for it!

Sand Rainbow - LA Splash Sparkling Tailscales

A follow-up from last week's post, now featuring extra glitter and holographic goodness!

[Bottle to nail: LA Splash Sparkling Tailscales (2 coats) over Layla Golden Touch]
I'm breaking the string of Layla Softouch Effect posts here, although does it count if the base is the Softouch from last week, Golden Touch??

[Glitter: LA Splash Sparkling Tailscales (2 coats); Base: Layla Golden Touch (2 coats)]
After a week of Golden Touch, I decided to top it up (and hide tip wear!) with another champagne gold, this time with fine glitter particles in pale gold and holographic. This one's two coats of LA Splash Sparkling Tailscales over Layla Softouch Effect Golden Touch.

[Glitter: LA Splash Sparkling Tailscales (2 coats); Base: Layla Golden Touch (2 coats)]
The final result is a fine holographic sparkle that really comes to life in the sunlight! Dry time was average and the formula was fairly thin and easy to control. I think it's a bit too fine/sparse for an opaque full coverage mani on it's own, but it might work if you're going for a subtle sparkle on nude nails. =)

Costume Shades - LA Splash, China Glaze

I do so love the blue and reds combination!

[Base: LA Splash Midnight Rain
Gradient tips: China Glaze Ring In The Red]
LA Splash Midnight Rain is a nail polish with a dark blue glitter base with red glitter through it. I had forgotten how pretty it was, until I was rummaging in my drawers. Adding China Glaze Ring In The Red to the tips really brightened the whole thing up!

Jewel Tones - Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia, LA Splash Embellished

There are always those polishes that look so absolutely gorgeous in person, but you can never capture it properly in photographs. That drives me craaazy sometimes! Aaaah!

[Sparkle-arkle to the max!]
In case you haven't guessed, today's is one of those... =p

[Bottle to nail: Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia (1 coat)]
I started with a base of Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia, which is really not a fuchsia to me? More of a berry red creme. Excellent formula and opaque in one coat.

[1 coat: Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia]
Another big plus is it dries so beautifully glossy! Check out that "new car" shine on them tips!

[Bottle to nail: LA Splash Embellished (1 coat) over Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia]
I used this as a base for LA Splash Embellished, a super gorgeous combination of magenta/fuchsia holo glitter in a matching jelly base. This is one coat of Embellished, but it actually reaches opacity on its own in about three coats. I just didn't want to deal with removing lots of glitter polish at the time.

[1 coat: LA Splash Embellished over Ulta3 Flashback Fuchsia]
It's so so shiny and sparkly in person but it's just so impossible to capture it in photos! I love how in addition to the holo, there's a lot of blue glitter in it, which makes it just that bit more unique. LA Splash is definitely responsible for a number of my favourite glitter polishes and I recommend trying some out if you have a chance!

Hidden Treasure - LA Splash Midnight Star, Treasure Chest

Today I have two LA Splash polishes layered over each other to show you...

[Bottle to nail: LA Splash Midnight Star (2 coats)]
I started with a base of LA Splash Midnight Star, which kinda doesn't fit the name, I reckon! This is an old/discontinued colour that I picked up in a rummage bin.

[2 coats: LA Splash Midnight Star]
Lovely formula, one or two coats is great. It's this amazingly glowy warm rust red with larger pieces of gold glitter that gives it a bit of extra blinginess.

[Base: LA Splash Midnight Star; Glitter: LA Splash Treasure Chest (1 coat)]
I then layered over it with one coat of LA Splash Treasure Chest. Now... this is an interesting one! I took a gamble on this and ordered it on Cherry Culture even though the product swatch showed a strange cream/champagne glitter. I'd seen an online swatch of it and it was this gorgeous multicoloured glitter in a red jelly base and guess what... BINGO! =D

[Bottle to nail: LA Splash Treasure Chest (1 coat over LA Splash Midnight Star)]
Here's LA Splash Treasure Chest in the bottle. Look at all those colours! It's amazingly shiny and colourful but unfortunately my photos don't do it justice!

[Base: LA Splash Midnight Star; Glitter: LA Splash Treasure Chest (1 coat)]
Love it when these polish hunt gambles pay off!! =)

Till the next time, Merry Christmas all!

Ev's Birthday #4 - Jme presents... LA Splash, LA Girl, Cheeky, Nail Pattern Boldness, Aphrodite Lacquer

Get ready for crazy picspam! I have been so super spoilt for my birthday this year... I saw Jme again the other day and she had EVEN MORE presents for me. They'd arrived a bit later than she expected, but to me it's like, birthday extension?? Oooh yeah, bring it on~ =)

[GORGEOUS GLORIOUS GLITTER GLUT]
I couldn't resist putting together this gorgeous macros of some of the indie polishes... but before we get to those, here are a couple other things!

[WITH SHINY INDEED]
Nail stickers... "WITH SHINY"! Jme knows me so well, lol!

[LA Splash: Golden Moss; LA Girl Glitter Addict: Celebrate, Incognito, Animate, Flamboyant]
Now, Jme was super sneaky and was all like, "Hey, let's order from Cherry Culture!" ..then when I sent her my list, she was like OKAY, I'M BUYING IT!" .... Soooo SNEAKY!! Anyway, from L-R up there, here's what I got! LA Splash Golden Moss, then LA Girl Glitter Addict in Celebrate, Incognito, Animate and Flamboyant. So many shinies!

[Cheeky Jumbo Nail Art Plates]
... and then Jme got me a bunch of CHEEKY XL JUMBO SUPERBIG MASSIVE STAMPING PLATES, OHWOWWWWW~!! I cannot wait to try these out, but at the same time, they are so beautifully pristine that I can't bear to break them out.... Eeeee~ =)

Now... on to the indies! Check out these babies!

[Nail Pattern Boldness]
From nail pattern boldness, I got Flipping Out Hard and I Believe I Can Fly. Look how amazing they both are!!

[Nail Pattern Boldness: Flipping Out Hard]
Flipping Out Hard is in the same general ballpark as Nail-venturous Floam but the base is a bright fluoro yellow and it looks like an even amount of yellow and blue matte glitter in the mix (compared to more blue in Floam - swatched here). The glitter is super dense too! I reckon opaque in two coats~ =)

[Nail Pattern Boldness: I Believe I Can Fly]
I Believe I Can Fly is amazingly gorgeous. That mix of glitter together with the rich blue jelly base is utter genius! There's silver and pale blue squares, and smaller purple and red hexes (?). The combination gives amazing depth and is opaque in two coats. Can't wait to wear this as a full mani!

[Aphrodite Lacquer]
Jme also gave me two polishes from Aphrodite Lacquer - Don't Copy Me and.... Custom..? That's right, I GOT A CUSTOM POLISH ZOMGGGGG, AAAAHHHHH~!! *runs around the room flailing*

[Aphrodite Lacquer: Don't Copy Me]
Don't Copy Me is a shimmery white jelly with black squares and tiny hexes. Depth is amazing as you can tell! I'm actually wearing this right now! Two coats is pretty good, but as it's a white jelly, it's still a bit translucent. You can probably go for three coats if you want complete coverage. The black glitter tends to settle, but it's fine after a good shake, no real need to go fishing.

[Aphrodite Lacquer: Custom polish]
Custom is miiiinnneeee, alllll mineeee!!! What a gorgeous mix! There's white, magenta and black squares, and lots of tiny lavender hexes... but not just that... hidden in the mix are these masssive purple hexes... you can see one peeking out at the bottom of the bottle in that shot above. The polish is chock-full of glitter and there's no issues getting a bunch out, but to get the super large ones require a bit of fishing. Super gorgeous, though... The question is... what polish undies to wear underneath! Oh, decisions...

[OINK]
...Finally! An adorable little piggy basket to store all my goodies in!! Thank you so much, Jme!!! Super spoilt to the MAAAAXXXXTREEEEEMMMMEEEEEE!!!! =D

Ev's Birthday #2 - Birthday Manicure, LA Splash, China Glaze, Konad

So... here's my birthday manicure! I love me some bling, so I made sure there was plenty! ;)

[Birthday manicure 2012!]
Some gradient, some holo, some glitter, plus stamping!

[Bottle to nail: Revlon Metallic (1 coat)]
I started with a base of Revlon Metallic, a dense silver foil. This was just one coat. It dries a bit rough, but like the name says, is extremely metallic. I just used this to hide any gaps in the glitter I was going to put over it.

[Gradient: China Glaze Medallion (base) to LA Splash Sparkling Torpedo (tips)]
I then added two coats of LA Splash Sparkling Torpedo, a chunky silver holographic glitter (Jme has a nice swatch here). I didn't take a picture of Sparkling Torpedo on its own though... These photos here are after I applied a one coat gradient of China Glaze in Medallion, from base to about halfway up, thinning it out as I went. Medallion is a combination of several different sizes of gold holographic glitter.

[Gradient: China Glaze Medallion (base) to LA Splash Sparkling Torpedo (tips)]
Holographics are so hard to take photos of! I tried my best though. The gradient effect is pretty subtle, but still noticeably there. =)

[Gradient: China Glaze Medallion (base) to LA Splash Sparkling Torpedo (tips)
Stamping: Konad Special Polish in Black Pearl]
I then used Konad Special Polish in Black Pearl and stamped the swirly pattern on plate m63. My pictures are pretty crap unfortunately, but I was going for a contrast between the stark black and the OTT holo bling. It looks better in person, I think!

[Discarded stamp test!]
Aaaand... a "blooper" pic where I tested the houndstooth pattern first, then decided I didn't like it... On second look, it doesn't look too bad! =p The cool thing is, topcoating before stamping means you can wipe off the stamp pretty easily without messing up your base colours!

[Cupcake of Awesomeness]
Randomly, a cupcake I received from A! It was super delicious, thank you!!! That peanut butter cream icing was soooooo naughtyyyy~!

As I write this, it is 12 minutes to my birthday... which means... Jme, can I open my presents sooon?? =D
