Guess the polish!

Have you ever browsed through your photos and found nail polish swatches but you can't put a name to them? Embarrassingly, this happens to me all the time. So today, I thought let's play guess the nail polish swatches! These are ones which had me scratching my head until I went through my nail polish collection again.

Scroll down slowly and the answers are at the end:

Ready? Do you guys have some names in mind?

Alright, the first one is Sally Hansen HD Spectrum! I picked it up from a bargain bin and it's so pretty. In the bottle, it looks amazing. Bright blue with a colourshift to purple-gold. After realising which nail polish this is, I remember the swatches on the nails looked almost like blue-teal foil. The colour shift was sadly not as amazing. At extreme angles, you could see a hint of blurple, but that was it.

The second one should be easy since it's so popular! That's Max Factor Fantasy Fire. I think it was only difficult for me to place because I have so many purples to be honest. Since most swatches have Fantasy Fire layered over a purple creme, I was trying Fantasy Fire on its own. It takes about three to four thin coats to build to full opacity, but I love it like that. It looks so squishy, and that gold-red-green shimmer looks outstanding.

And that's it! Did you guys get it right before you reached the end?

Subtle Rainbow - Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Diamond, OPI Sparkle-icious

Super old mani alert! Here's a funky french from ages ago!

[Base: Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond; Tips: OPI Sparkle-icious]
This combination was Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond for the base and tips with OPI Sparkle-icious from the Burlesque collection.

[3 coats: Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond]
Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond is not as amazingly holographic as some others in the collection but you do get a very subtle rainbow which is more obvious in the first pic up the top. It's quite sheer and takes about three coats to opacity.

I then taped off the tips and put a layer of OPI Sparkle-icious on. Sparkle-icious is lots of fun! A combination of gold, fuchsia and blue glitter... I've been meaning to wear this on its own as a full mani but the thought of removal is holding me back!

Speckled Pink - Pa Color Premier Lame Grande

Ev came back from Japan with gifts awhile ago, and here's one of them!

[Pa Color Premier Lame Grande AA63]
Pa Color Premier Lame Grande AA63 is produced by Dear Laura and it's a pink polish with black glitter. There looks to be round and hex glitter. The colour on the polish is a little darker on the nails than in the bottle.

I looooooove it so much. The polish is opaque in two coats, yet it doesn't cover the black glitter so much that you can't see the colour and shape of it. I just love the speckled look over the base colour, and since it's all in one polish, application is easy.

With longer nails like below, getting a perfectly even spread of the glitter is a little bit harder, but still doable.

Some dollar stores in Australia stock Pa polishes, but I haven't yet found this particular line, which is a shame, because I want to buy all of it aaaahhhhh. They sell them for around AUD5 per bottle (approximately 5ml I think.)

Cool Hues - Revlon Color Illusion Lilac Beam

Good morning! Today I have swatches of Revlon Color Illusion in Lilac Beam - a gorgeous lavender with strong cool blue shimmer through it. It's one of those somewhat-duochromes, by virtue of the contrasting shimmer.

[Bottle to nail: Revlon Color Illusion Lilac Beam (3 coats)]
Excellent formula but a little on the sheer side. What I've got on is three coats, so not too shabby.

[3 coats: Revlon Color Illusion Lilac Beam]
The blue shimmer is really obvious in person and although I'm not usually a fan of lighter colours, I quite enjoyed this one!

[3 coats: Revlon Color Illusion Lilac Beam]
I managed to pick this one up a while ago, rummaging through polish at the markets as usual. I actually haven't done that for a while - I really should drop by again soon! =) You never know what treasures'll pop up there!

Glitter Leaching - Lynderella Happy HoloDaze!

=( I was scrabbling around in my polish stash last night... and I spotted one of my Lynderellas and thought to myself... I don't remember that glitter combo. So I pulled it out, and turns out it was Happy HoloDaze!

If you remember from Jme's swatch post, the combination is red, gold and green. But it appears that the green has dissolved and leached into the base, leaving bluey-teal hexes behind and tinting the base a somewhat unattractive yellow-green.

[Lynderella Happy HoloDaze!: Colour shift, but not in the nice way... ]

I snapped a quick photo with my mobile. You can see that the larger green square glitter is still green but all the smaller hexes have gone blue. Bugger! I was looking forward to using it at Christmas this year. =( I do store my polishes away from light too! Has anyone noticed that the glitter in their Happy HoloDaze is not solvent-resistant?

Summer Drink - Savvy Ginger Ale

I was looking over my photos, and I just realised how few photos I have taken this month! I really have been slacking off with my manis. :(

Here's one of my relatively new polishes from Savvy. It's not summer now, but writing Ginger Ale so many times in this post is making me thirsty for a cool drink on a hot day!

[Savvy Ginger Ale
Ring finger: Ginger Ale over blue polish]
Savvy Ginger Ale looks like a dupe of Sally Hansen Big Money, but I don't actually have Big Money so I can't say how close they are. I do like Ginger Ale in that it's not flashy glittery. It's a subtle champagne gold with lavender glitter. It's almost like foil, and it applies thin and easy with full coverage in two coats.

It looks brighter under my lovely fluorescent lights:

AUD3 for a 10ml bottle. Isn't that value for money? :D
